Impact of Tendencies
सत्त्वात्सञ्जायते ज्ञानं रजसो लोभ एव च। प्रमादमोहौ तमसो भवतोऽज्ञानमेव च॥
What does Bhagavad Gita 14.17 mean?
From the mode of goodness arises knowledge, from the mode of passion arises greed, and from the mode of ignorance arise carelessness, delusion, and lack of understanding.
How can I apply Gita 14.17 in daily life?
We become what we think. If we remain forever in greed (passion) or in laziness (ignorance), we can never find peace. So always strive to choose knowledge and balance (goodness).
Krishna's teaching
Krishna says that knowledge and light are attained through the mode of goodness. So a person should adopt pure thoughts, noble actions, and virtuous conduct that increase goodness in life, for these alone lead one toward growth and, ultimately, liberation.
Affirmation
Letting go of greed and laziness, I am moving toward knowledge and peace.
