Danger of Ego

मच्चित्तः सर्वदुर्गाणि मत्प्रसादात्तरिष्यसि। अथ चेत्त्वमहङ्कारान्न श्रोष्यसि विनङ्क्ष्यसि॥

What does Bhagavad Gita 18.58 mean?

If you fix your mind on Me, you will cross over every difficulty by My grace. But if, out of ego, you do not heed My words, your ruin is certain.

How can I apply Gita 18.58 in daily life?

Sometimes we feel we can handle everything on our own. This ego stops us from listening to good advice from others and to divine guidance. Surrender is the simplest way to dissolve ego.

Krishna's teaching

Krishna says: give up ego and the feeling that 'I alone am the doer of everything,' and continuously keep Me in your thoughts, offering your actions to Me. With the support of My grace and remembrance, the difficulties of life can be overcome. Letting go of ego and having complete faith in the Supreme is one of the great paths to one's own well-being.

Affirmation

To receive the boundless grace of the Supreme, I perform all my actions, but I do not carry within myself the ego of their fruit or of being their doer. Letting go of the feeling of 'I, I,' I regard myself as an instrument of the Supreme.
