Speech that does not disturb others, that is truthful, pleasant, and beneficial, along with the regular study of scripture, this is called the austerity of speech.
How can I apply Gita 17.15 in daily life?
Our words can heal a wound or inflict a deep one. Speaking without thought brings unrest. This verse teaches us to use our words thoughtfully and with compassion.
Krishna's teaching
Krishna says that the true austerity of speech is not merely staying silent or putting on an outer show. Speaking words that are truthful, pleasant, and beneficial, and that cause no unnecessary pain or agitation to anyone, this is the real austerity of speech. Along with this, regularly studying the scriptures and applying that knowledge in life is also an important part of this austerity.
Affirmation
In every situation, I strive to speak truthful, gentle, and beneficial words. May my words bring good to others, bring peace and comfort to their hearts, and may my speech cause no unnecessary pain to anyone.
