Vanity of Status
आढ्योऽभिजनवानस्मि कोऽन्योऽस्ति सदृशो मया। यक्ष्ये दास्यामि मोदिष्य इत्यज्ञानविमोहिताः॥
What does Bhagavad Gita 16.15 mean?
He thinks: 'I am very wealthy and of high birth. Who else is equal to me? I shall give charity, perform sacrifices, and enjoy myself.' Such people remain deluded by ignorance.
How can I apply Gita 16.15 in daily life?
Taking pride in a high lineage or a large bank balance is merely an illusion of the mind. This verse takes us out of the world of appearances and leads us toward inner simplicity. True greatness lies in our values, not in our wealth.
Krishna's teaching
Krishna teaches that a person who takes pride in wealth, lineage, power, or charity truly deceives only themselves. When a person, drowned in ego and delusion, begins to consider themselves superior to others, they themselves pave the way for their own downfall.
Affirmation
Far from the noise of appearances, I am happy in my own inner purity.
